Despite all of these factors the rand is still not at the level, we saw in January 2016 in the aftermath of\u00a0Nenegate\u00a0&#8211; see chart above.<\/li>\n<li>President Xi Jinping of China, speaking at the China-Africa Co-operation Forum, has promised\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymaverick.co.za\/article\/2018-09-03-chinas-xi-offers-60-bn-africa-aid-says-no-strings-attached\/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Afternoon%20Thing%20Monday%203%20September%202018%20WBC%2060&amp;utm_content=Afternoon%20Thing%20Monday%203%20September%202018%20WBC%2060+CID_eb715c5cb4e2638744cbd2242c5f4c6f&amp;utm_source=TouchBasePro&amp;utm_term=China%20announces%20massive%20investment\">$60 billion in investment in Africa<\/a>.
