Then to local shores, where politicians who promote socialism are stealing from the poor.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Global News\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Prime Minister Boris Johnson continued to be in hot water this week after a Scottish court ruled that Johnson had lied to the Queen when asking her to suspend Parliament, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymaverick.co.za\/article\/2019-09-11-boris-johnsons-suspension-of-parliament-is-unlawful-scottish-court-rules\/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Afternoon%20Thing%20Wednesday%2011%20September%202019%20HSH&amp;utm_content=Afternoon%20Thing%20Wednesday%2011%20September%202019%20HSH+CID_290703dc2d6cc9192cd05cb2ad21a44d&amp;utm_source=TouchBasePro&amp;utm_term=Scotch%20egg%20on%20Boris%20face%20over%20parly%20ruling\">making the suspension unlawful<\/a>. The unanimous ruling now sets up a court date at the UK Supreme Court to determine the matter.<\/li>\n<li>In other Brexit news, Johnson has promised to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-09-10\/boris-johnson-to-work-for-brexit-deal-after-losing-six-key-votes?cmpid=BBD091019_BIZ&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_term=190910&amp;utm_campaign=bloombergdaily\">work for a deal <\/a>with the European Union, after six consecutive losses in Parliament and push back relating to his no-deal rhetoric.<\/li>\n<li>China announced that it would <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2019\/09\/11\/economy\/china-us-tariffs-exemptions\/index.html?utm_source=CNN+Five+Things&amp;utm_campaign=2a81c0ab41-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_09_12_08_02&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_6da287d761-2a81c0ab41-92765437\">waive tariffs on some US goods<\/a>; this is the first time this has happened since the start of the trade war. According to Moody\u2019s Investors Service, fixing South Africa\u2019s loss-making power utility is complex, and it will take time for the government and the company to agree to a turnaround plan. Moody\u2019s did say however that South Africa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fin24.com\/Economy\/ferial-haffajee-five-reasons-why-moodys-is-unlikely-to-junk-sa-and-why-it-still-could-20190910\">investment rating is probably safe<\/a> for another 12 to 18 months reasoning that President Cyril Ramaphosa\u2019s government needs time to implement economic reforms.<\/li>\n<li>RMB\/BER Business Confidence Index indicated that eight out of every ten respondents to their survey are \u201cunsatisfied with prevailing business conditions,\u201d in South Africa.
